Who We Are

The East African Community Agroecological Produce Trade Knowledge Hub (EAC-ATKH) is a digital, interactive, and multi-stakeholder platform established to strengthen sustainable and inclusive cross-border trade in agroecological produce across the East African Community (EAC).

Our goal is to empower farmers, producer organisations, SMEs, women and youth traders, policymakers, and border agencies with data, tools, and knowledge that enable them to engage more effectively in regional and continental markets, including under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The Hub connects and supports all EAC Partner States — Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia — providing a shared platform for learning, collaboration, and policy alignment on agroecological trade.

Our Vision

A thriving East African region where sustainable agroecological trade drives food security, climate resilience, and prosperity for all.

Our Mission

To bridge the gap between agroecological production and trade by providing a one-stop knowledge and data platform that strengthens the capacity, coordination, and competitiveness of EAC stakeholders in sustainable agricultural markets.

Our Guiding Principles

  1. Sustainability and equity: Promote fair, inclusive, and environmentally sound trade practices.
  2. Knowledge-driven growth: Build capacity through training, research, and innovation.
  3. Regional collaboration: Strengthen coordination among EAC Partner States, regional bodies, and development partners.
  4. Farmer-centred approach: Prioritise smallholder farmers, women, and youth as key actors in agroecological trade.
  5. Digital inclusion: Leverage technology to make trade information accessible, transparent, and actionable.
